would like to invite you to the launch of the brochure

“How to promote ageing well in Europe: Tools and instruments available to local actors”

On Wednesday 7 October 2009,
10:30 - 11:30
at the Committee of the Regions
(Meeting Place, building JDE, 6th floor),
Rue Belliard, 101,
1040 Brussels

The issue of an ageing European population will have a strong impact at a local and regional level. This demographic trend will indeed result in a profound shift in the structure of the population in our towns, cities and regions, thereby affecting policies and services. This presents both opportunities and challenges, which need to be identified and correctly understood in order to be addressed effectively.

To help local actors respond to these challenges, the Committee of the Regions and AGE-the European Older People’s Platform will launch a publication on tool and instruments available to local actors to promote ageing well in Europe which include examples of projects funded by various EU programmes.

This session is targeting anyone interested in ageing issues: local authorities, the industry, services providers, etc. It will include an introduction by Mrs Constance Hanniffy, President of the Economic and Social Policy (ECOS) commission of the Committee of the Regions, Mrs Anne-Sophie Parent, Director of AGE and Mr Lambert Van Nistelrooij, MEP (to be confirmed), followed by exchanges with the floor.

The event will take place during the European Week of Regions and Cities (Open Days - 5-8 October). You can have more information on this EU week at:
