The Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) is a legal, non-profit entity organized under private law, under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT), of the Greek Ministry of Development. It was founded on 2000 under the Presidential Decree 77/2000. There are two Insitutes of CERTH involved in the OASIS project:
Hellenic Institute of Transport (CERTH/HIT)
HITs main objective is the conduct and support of applied research activities in the field of transportation in Greece . More specifically on issues relating to organization, operation, planning and development of infrastructure, and standardization, economic analysis, management, vehicle technology, and impact assessment of land, maritime, air, and multimodal transport services. Also training and education activities in related fields, dissemination of research activities and the Representation of Greece, in Transport Research and other relevant scientific fora abroad.
Informatics and Telematics Institute (CERTH/ITI)
The Informatics and Telematics Insitute (CERTH/ITI) has 12 proposals being approved so far during the 1st Call of the FP6 IST Programme. ITI is currently participating in 32 EC IST projects and more than 50 Greek National projects, and is the co-coordinator of four EC IST projects. The most important research areas of ITI include: knowledge management, multimedia and Internet technologies, educational and cultural technologies, data communication and computer networks, identification and tracking of semantic objects, content-based search and retrieval and virtual and augmented reality. The ITI-CERTH research group has long and very extensive experience in knowledge technologies and their applications in the cultural, educational and public administration sectors. It is currently participating in the relevant to ASK-IT REGNET, INFOCITIZEN, E-MUNIS, EU-PUBLI.COM, NEMO projects. ITI-CERTH is also the coordinator of KOD, AGENT ACADEMY and SCHEMA IST projects focusing on advanced knowledge management techniques and their applications.
